Waste diversion rate of GRESB buildings worldwide 2020-2022, by region
The share of waste diverted in the real estate sector declined across all regions worldwide between 2020 and 2022, based on data from the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB). Companies operating real estate in Europe had the highest waste diversion rate, with 65.5 percent of waste diverted. GRESB is an industry-led organization that collects, validates, scores, and benchmarks ESG performance. ESG benchmarking has been a growing trend among real estate companies worldwide, with the number of companies participating in GRESB benchmark increasing year-on-year since 2013.
