In 2023, the European Union raised its renewable targets for 2030 to an overall energy consumption share of 42.5 percent by that year. Buildings are expected to reach the highest renewable share, with a target of 69 percent of renewables. The industrial sector is expected to increase its renewable consumption share annually by 1.6 percent.
