Distribution of first-time treated clients for heroin in EU 2013-2021, by use route
Among selected European countries, smoking/inhaling was the main administration route for all clients who were treated for heroin for the first time between 2013 and 2021. The highest rate was observed in 2021, with over 60 percent of first-time treated clients consuming heroin smoking. Conversely, injection as the main method of administration had decreased to almost half of its value from 2013, representing only 19 percent of all first-time treated clients in 2021. This statistic depicts the distribution of first-time treated clients entering treatment for heroin from 2013 to 2021 in Europe, by route of administration.
