U.S.: cities with largest share of pedestrian roadways with speeds exceeding 35 mph
At 65 percent, The city of Phoenix showed the largest share of major pedestrian roadways with average speeds above 35 miles-per-hour. The other cities on the higher end of this ranking showed percentages of 40 up to 51 percent, with Houston and San Antonio showing the smallest percentages, 35 percent each, of pedestrian roadways with average speeds exceeding 35 miles-per-hour.
Over the past few years, concerns have risen regarding the rising number of pedestrian fatalities in the United States. The current data seeks to highlight the relevant shares of pedestrian roadways with unsafe average speeds.
