U.S.: share of critical mineral imports from China 2018-2021, by commodity

Between 2018 and 2021, China accounted for the largest share of several critical minerals imported to the United States. Yttrium imports to the U.S. from China accounted for the largest share of any U.S. critical mineral imported during that period of time, at 94 percent of overall imports originating in China. U.S. imports of rare earths from China during that timeframe were the second-largest category, accounting for 74 percent of total imports.
