In 2021, Wyoming's oil and gas industry contributed 28.6 percent to the state's total GDP. This was the highest percentage attributed to the oil and gas industry in any U.S. state. In comparison, in Texas, 22 percent of the state's GDP was related to the oil and gas industry.
