Death rate in Milan province 2012-2021
Besides 2014, the mortality rate in the metropolitan city of Milan from 2012 to 2020 always stayed above nine deaths per 1,000 inhabitants. The COVID-19 outbreak significantly impacted on the index. In fact, in 2020 the rate recorded the highest performance since 2012, with more than twelve deaths per 1,000 residents. The pandemic considerably aggravated the situation, as in 2021 the mortality rate was above ten deaths per 1,000 people, more than what was recorded during the pre-pandemic period.
