Papa John’s ranked in fourth place in terms of U.S. sales when compared to competitors such as Domino’s Pizza, Pizza Hut and Little Caesars. With sales worth approximately 8.29 billion U.S. dollars, Domino’s Pizza was the leading pizza restaurant chain in the United States in 2020. Pizza Hut and Little Caesars were ranked second and third, respectively. Since 2017, Domino's Pizza has been the leading pizza chain in the U.S. in terms of sales.

Pizza chain preferences among Americans

The Kentucky-based quick service restaurant chain serves as a go-to-place for many U.S. consumers. In a survey conducted in 2021 aimed at identifying the American Customer Satisfaction Scores (ACSI) for leading quick service restaurants in the United States, Papa John’s received a score of 77, one point below the average across all brands. The ACSI was calculated by averaging responses from three consumer satisfaction survey questions that measured different facets of satisfaction.
