In 2015, the retail sales value of the casual bag segment is expected to be about 12.72 billion U.S. dollars. Luggage Market

The luggage manufacturing industry is highly diversified, encompassing products from computer bags and business carry-ons to backpacks and golfbags. The U.S. market is dominated by foreign imports, and U.S. manufacturers must compete with these lower cost competitors. Much of the market’s performance is driven by consumer segments that have experienced significant slumps in the last several years.

No longer simply hard-sided gray suitcases, the luggage industry must maintain a focus on innovation and design while competing against lower cost foreign manufacturers and a fickle tourism industry.
