This statistic represents the most frequent procedures in hospitals in the United States based on the number of hospital stays in 2011. In that year, blood transfusions during hospital stays were the most often procedures, with a total of some 2.9 million. Prophylactic vaccinations and inoculations were ranked second, with almost 1.9 million of such procedures.
