Bribery rates around the world in 2013

This statistic shows bribery rates around the world as of 2013. In a survey conducted between September 2012 and March 2013 in 95 countries around the world, people were asked if they or anyone living in their household paid a bribe in any form in the past 12 months to any of selected official institutions (education system; judicial system; medical and health services; police; registry and permit services; utilities; tax; land services). In 2013, Sierra Leone topped the list. 84 percent of that countries' respondents stated that they had paid a bribe in the last 12 months.
