WalMart had about 2.3 million employees in fiscal year 2017. Wal-Mart Stores also led the ranking of companies by revenue in 2016, with a total revenue of about 482 billion U.S. dollars.

Apart from the United States and the United Kingdom, Wal-Mart employs the most number of people in Mexico and China, totaling 176,000 and 90,000, respectively. There are over 2,000 Wal-Mart stores in Mexico, but only 370 stores in China. In the United States, there are over 5,100 stores as of 2015, some 3,400 of these stores are Wal-Mart’s Supercenters . The company had a 611 ratio of CEO-to-worker compensation in 2012, indicating that for every U.S. dollar a normal employee received, the CEO earned 611 U.S. dollars. Wal-Mart is one of the largest companies in the world, generating 482.13billion U.S. dollars in 2016. It is also one of the largest supermarket employers in the United States, with 1.24 million employees.
