Mobile users in India 2013-2019 Once considered a luxury of the rich, mobile phones are now an everyday gadget for people across the globe. The number of mobile phone users in the world is expected to pass the five billion mark in 2019. Mobile phone users in India crossed 581 million users in 2014 and has been on a steady rise over the last decade. According to a survey by eMarketer in 2015, India is estimated to have over 800 million mobile phone users in 2019.
The great Indian middle class bringing in the change

The reason for this high penetration of mobile phones in India could be attributed to a burgeoning young population in the country that is eager to adopt new technology, and the growing middle class capable of spending on consumer items. Along with this, there is an intense competition among mobile phone manufacturers in India that is driving down the prices of mobile phones.

Smartphone segment sees a boost

The smartphone industry in India is a growing market with around 36 percent of all Indian mobile phone users expected to own a smartphone by 2018. This growth can also be observed in the volume of smartphone shipments in India. While the projections for smartphone sales are optimistic worldwide, India will account for about 12.5 percent of the global smartphone market by 2020. As the second most populous country in the world, the mobile phone industry in India is certainly a growing market that is eager to adapt to new technology.
