Annual deaths number from communicable diseases 2019
Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that affects the lungs. Tuberculosis disproportionately impacts the poorer, less developed countries of the world, such as in Africa and Southeast Asia. India reports the highest number of deaths from tuberculosis worldwide, with around 436,000 such deaths in 2019.
HIV/AIDS
Although deaths from HIV/AIDS have decreased over the last few decades, there were still around 690,000 AIDS-related deaths in 2019. Like many other communicable diseases, HIV/AIDs impacts developing regions more than the developed world. By far, the highest number of AIDS deaths come from Africa and Asia Pacific. Advancements in HIV treatment now allow those infected to live long and relatively normal lives, but access to treatment varies greatly.
