26 percent of the population the UK have been diagnosed with a psychiatric condition as of 2018. The age group 45 to 54 years have the highest prevalence of psychiatric conditions and disorders at 33 percent. In England, the leading dispensed drug for treating psychoses and other related disorders was Quetiapine which was dispensed over 3.5 million times in 2018.

Mental health among young people in the UK

In 2017, over 13 percent of boys and nine percent of girls suffered from a mental disorder in the UK. This share of mental disorders among young people has increased since 1999. The prevalence of mental disorders among children is higher in lower income households, with the rate of disorders in the lowest income quintile more than double that of the highest income quintile.
