Catalan referendum: voting intention June 2014, by employment situation This statistic shows voting intentions for the Catalan referendum on independence planned to take place on November 9, according to a survey carried out in June 2014, by employment situation. Those who were most likely to vote 'Yes' for both Catalonia becoming a state and becoming independent were those with a job (46.5 percent) and students (an absolute majority of almost 51 percent). There were more unemployed people against the idea of a Catalan state than were pro-independence.
