Francophone songs sent by major labels to radio stations

This statistic displays the number of francophone songs (of which songs by new talents), which were sent annually by major music labels to radio stations from 1995 to 2014. It show that in 1995, major music labels sent 295 French-language songs, of which 143 by new talents. In 2001, 540 francophone songs had been sent by music major labels to radios, of which 267 songs by new talents.

The numbers were provided by the following music companies: Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music France, Warner Music France.
According to a French law voted February 1st, 1994, the share of francophone songs broadcasted on radio stations were to reach 40 percent before January 1st 1996.
This law was amended on August 1st, 2000, in order to allow radio stations to broadcast either 60 percent francophone songs and ten percent new productions, or 35 percent francophone songs and 25 percent new productions.
