This statistic presents the share of adults in Italy and Germany who believe that certain aspects of financial help for elderly parents, as well as grandchildren care and money saved for future generations, are the responsibility of the offspring. Approximately 87 percent of Italians believe that looking after an aging parent financially is a responsibility. Among German respondents, 63 percent believe financially supporting adult children is a responsibility, before looking after elderly parents (53 percent).
