Number of cigarettes smoked per day in Italy 2022, by age and gender
In 2022, males smoked on average more cigarettes per day than females in Italy. Males, indeed, would smoke on average almost 12 cigarettes per day, compared to 9.6 smoked by females. For both genders, there seemed to be a trend of increasing amount in number of cigarettes smoked as people got older, at least until 74 years of age. Males aged 55 to 59 years were the group smoking the most cigarettes, 13.7 on an average day. This figure shows the average number of cigarettes smoked per day in Italy in 2022, by age and gender.
