This statistic shows the total number of accepted asylum applications in the Netherlands from 2010 to 2022, by motivation. It shows that in most years between 2010 and 2022, the majority of the asylum requests were granted based on refugee or subsidiary status. Only in 2017 and 2018, requests on humanitarian grounds formed the largest category.

According to the source asylum applicants with an accepted application receive a residence permit asylum.

Until 2011 the numbers include invited refugees (ca. 500 per year).

The source defines refugee status as the recognition of a national of another country or a stateless person as a refugee. The subsidiary status is granted to refugees who are not eligible for refugee status, but who would be in serious danger when they would return to their country of origin (death penalty, torture, arbitrary violence in conflicts). Humanitarian grounds often means that a person has had a traumatic experience.
