New registrations of motorcycles and scooters in Germany 2015-2021
There was a total of 197,540 new registrations for motorcycles and scooters in Germany in 2021. By far the most commonly sold type was a motorcycle or all-terrain vehicle (ATV) with an engine size over 125 cubic centimeters. That year they accounted for 59 percent of total sales.
In the period between 2015 and 2021, motorcycle registrations peaked in 2020, at about 219,000 units.
According to a Statista forecast, motorcycle sales in Germany are projected to reach an industry revenue of 2.61 million U.S. dollars by 2027.

Classic motorcycles most popular
Classic models are the most popular motorcycle type with German consumers. In 2021, roughly 32,300 such vehicles were purchased. They were closely followed by Enduro models, selling close to 32,900 bikes.Leading manufacturers
As of 2021, BMW remained the leading motorcycle manufacturer in the country. That year, their sales volume amounted to around 26,700 units. This was nearly 12,300 vehicles more than the second entry, Honda.
