459 facilities in the United States chemicals sector reported total greenhouse gas emissions of 186.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e) in 2021. Of this total, 179.9 MtCO₂e were produced by the non-fluorinated chemicals subsector, which consists of facilities that produce adipic acid, ammonia, hydrogen, nitric acid, petrochemicals, phosphoric acid, silicon carbide, titanium dioxide, and other non-fluorinated chemicals.
