The statistic displays the total number of teachers in universities and colleges in India for financial year 2015, by state and union territory. The state of Tamil Nadu had the most number of teachers, followed by the state of Uttar Pradesh with over 163,900 university and college teachers. That year, the union territory of Lakshadweep had the least number of university and college teachers.
