In 2019/20 there were 589 racist incidents recorded by the police in Northern Ireland. After an initial increase of incidents until the year 2006/07, when a high point was reached, figures began to drop albeit in a slower manner. This eventually resulted in a low point of about 458 incidents in 2011/12. However, a drastic growth of racist incidents was recorded in the following years which resulted in a new peak of 916 reported incidents in 2014/15.
