In 2020, over nine thousand households in Japan suffered damages related to natural disasters, with the majority of damages being caused by rainfalls and storms. The highest number of households suffering from natural disasters was in 2011, when the triple disaster of the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred, which affected almost 244 thousand households.
