Supplementary notes

This question was phrased by the source as follows:
In order to start the process of leaving the EU, the UK needs to activate Article 50, a process that will formally notify the European Union of the UK's intention to leave. Following the result of the EU referendum in June, Theresa May has said she will activate Article 50 by the end of March, but some have suggested she should not be allowed to do this without a parliamentary debate and vote on the issue first. Which of the following comes closest to your view?
- Following the result of the EU referendum, the Prime Minister should be able to activate Article 50 to formally start the process of the UK leaving the EU
- The decision of whether to activate Article 50 and formally start the process of the UK leaving the EU should be made by all MPs through a vote in Parliament
