Visitor numbers to the Sex Museum in Amsterdam (Netherlands) 2011-2017 Sex Museum Amsterdam (Venustempel) is a museum showing a collection of pictures, recordings, paintings and other materials that let visitors explore the history and evolution of human sexuality. As of 2017, the museum attracted roughly 780,000 visitors, which is an increase compared to the previous year and the highest visitor number reached in the period between 2011 and 2017. Looking at the ranking of the ten most visited museums in the Netherlands (ID 616640) in 2017, the Sex Museum ranks fourth. The Van Gogh Museum was the most visited museum, attracting over 2.25 million people.

In total 435 museums could to be found in the Netherlands (ID 797667) in 2017. 91 of these museums were located in Noord-Holland, whereas 83 and 54 were located in Zuid Holland and Gelderland. 70 percent of the museum visitors (ID 619010) were domestic visitors and 30 percent international. Furthermore, 85 percent of the natural history museums visitors were domestic visitors, whereas 17 percent came from abroad.

Observing the number of museums per 80,000 inhabitants (ID 859754), Leeuwarden (the capital city of the province Friesland) had ten museums. Delft offered roughly eight museums per 80,000 inhabitants, whereas Amsterdam had approximately six museums.
