Visitors to the Anne Frank Huis in Amsterdam in the Netherlands 2011-2020

Anne Frank Huis in Amsterdam is a biographical museum dedicated to the Jewish diarist Anne Frank. During World War II, she hid together with other people and her family in hidden rooms from Nazi persecution. In 2019, the museum attracted approximately 1.3 million people, but the number of visitors decreased significantly in 2020, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19 pandemic), reaching roughly 396 thousand. Other popular museums in Amsterdam experienced a sharp drop in attendance, as a result of the restrictions put in place to face the health crisis. For instance, the number of visitors to the Van Gogh Museum dropped from over two million in 2019 to around 500 thousand in 2020.

Art museums attracted roughly 14 million people, whereas history museums received approximately 13.7 million individuals.
