This statistic represents the results of a survey in 2017 across eight cities in India about the reasons drivers across the southern coastal city of Mangaluru make calls while driving. During the survey period, about 40 percent of respondents made calls when travelling at a low speed, while about six percent made calls if it was they were bored.

According to the source, within each city, four categories of drivers were surveyed: two-wheeler drivers, four-wheeler drivers, truck/bus drivers and auto-rickshaw drivers. Cities surveyed: Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Kanpur, Mumbai and Kolkata.
