Both before and after the impact of COVID-19, Germany reported the highest number of outbound tourist trips among European Union (EU) countries. In 2022, the number of outbound tourist trips from Germany reached nearly 87 million, increasing sharply over the previous year but remaining below the figure from 2019. France and the Netherlands followed in the ranking in 2022, with around 27 million and 23 million outbound trips.
