International tourist arrivals worldwide 2019-2022, by subregion
The number of international tourist arrivals worldwide increased sharply in 2022 compared to the first two years of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic but remained below pre-pandemic levels. Both before and after the impact of the health crisis, the Southern/Mediterranean Europe region recorded the highest number of inbound tourist arrivals worldwide, with more than 265 million arrivals in 2022. That year, Western Europe and North America followed in the ranking, with roughly 169 million and 102 million arrivals, respectively.
