Consumption by type of cheese in France 2016 This statistic illustrates the total consumption of cheese in France for the year 2016, by type and in tons. The study points out that cooked pressed cheese was the most consumed type of cheese, with a total volume of more than 236,000 tons. Another popular type of this dairy product was soft cheese, of which about 188,000 tons were eaten in 2016. In comparison, the consumption of blue cheese represented only 30,510 tons.
