The number of individuals with iron deficiency anemia treated in Spain in 2022 amounted to approximately 8.20 per thousand patients. This figure was highest among individuals aged 65 years or more, with a prevalence rate of 13.58 cases per 1,000 patients. Those aged 35 to 64 years followed, with 7.57 individuals affected by iron deficiency anemia for every thousand people treated in primary health care services. This condition is the most common type of anemia, including symptoms such as tiredness, weakness, pale skin, and chest pain, among others.
