Victims of domestic abuse in the United Kingdom 2004-2016
This statistic displays the estimated number of individuals who experienced domestic abuse in the previous year in the United Kingdom from 2004 to 2016, by gender. During this 12 year period the number of individuals who experienced domestic abuse in the previous 12 months generally decreased, however women experience more domestic abuse than men in every year. In 2004/2005 an estimated 1 million men and 1.7 million experienced domestic abuse in the previous year, by 2015/2016 this number had decreased to an estimated 716 thousand men and 1.3 million women.
