This statistic displays the foreign cheese market share in the Netherlands in 2017, by type of household. On average, approximately one-fourth of the total expenditure on cheese in the Netherlands was spent on foreign cheese, such as Italian or French cheese. Young singles spent a relatively large percentage of the cheese budget on foreign cheese, at nearly 33 percent. On the other hand, pensioners with a limited income on average only spent 18 percent of their cheese budget on non-Dutch cheese.
