This statistic displays the number of sled dogs in Greenland in 2016, by district. With a population of 3,167 animals, most sled dogs were kept in Ilulissat in Western Greenland. In Upernavik, which is also in the Western part of the country, 2,732 sled dogs were kept.

Dog sledding is an important part of the Greenlandic culture and a popular tourist activity. Sled dogs are mainly kept in Northern Greenland where winters last long enough to benefit from the dogs.
