This statistic provides information about the share of non-performing exposures at the Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo from 2014 to 2016, sorted by type. Non-performing loans (NPLs) are exposures to debtors who are no longer able to meet all or part of their contractual obligations. Over the period of consideration, bad loans represented a large proportion of all non-performing loans at Intesa Sanpaolo and these increased from 61 percent as of 2014 to 65 percent by the end of 2016. Moreover, unlikely-to-pay loans accounted for 34 percent of the total non-performing loans at the Italian banking group.
