Expenditure of Italian outbound tourists 2019-2022, by destination
In 2022, the United States was the leading outbound travel market for Italy based on tourism expenditure. That year, spending of outbound Italian visitors in the U.S. amounted to roughly 3.1 billion euros, surpassing the figure from 2019, prior to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Meanwhile, Spain and France followed in the ranking in 2022, with spending of Italian travelers reaching around 2.9 billion and 2.3 billion euros, respectively.
