Expenditure of Italian outbound tourists 2007-2022
Spending of Italian tourists abroad rose sharply in 2022 over the previous year, after shrinking with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Despite the significant annual increase, the outbound tourism expenditure from Italy remained slightly below pre-pandemic levels, amounting to roughly 26 billion euros in 2022.
