The British specialty chemicals company can trace its origins back to 1817 and has since become a multinational corporation with a workforce of more than 12 thousand. Of this, 4,000 are based in the UK. According to the Financial Times, Johnson Matthey ranked in the top 10 global chemical companies based on revenue in 2018.
European comparisons

Of the total chemical revenue in the EU, the UK had a share of 6.7 percent. This was only slightly less than the Netherlands and Italy. However, this was a far smaller share when compared to Germany, which contributed 28.6 percent of revenue.
