This statistic shows the results of a survey on abortion in Brazil carried out in June 2016. When asked at what age they had had an abortion, 70 women answered when they were between 20 and 24 years old.

The research paper was written by Dr. Debora Diniz, Dr. Marcelo Medeiros and Dr. Alberto Madeiro.
The survey was conducted only in urban areas and among literate women, since one of the data collection methods involved filling up a personal, anonymous questionnaire.
The figures represent the age at the time the respondent had her most recent abortion.
In Brazil, abortion is decriminalized in three cases: if the pregnancy is a result of rape, if performing an abortion is the only way to save the woman's life, or if the fetus suffers from anencephaly.
