Weight of U.S. plastic waste exports by country 2017-2018
This statistic displays the export volume of plastic waste from the United States between January to June 2017 and January to June 2018, broken down by country. On December 31, 2017, China put a ban on a large portion of the plastic waste that foreign countries sent to the country for disposal. In the half year prior to the import ban, the U.S. sent almost 380,000 metric tons of plastic waste to China. After the new restriction came into play, the U.S. sent about 30,000 metric tons of plastic to China.
