Finland: reasons for doing sports of children and youths 2018

This statistic shows the results of a survey regarding the reasons for doing sport activities of children and youth in Finland in 2018. According to the survey, 79 percent of respondents found it very important to do sports in order to stay healthy, while 16 percent found it very important to do sports because they wanted to become professional athletes. 50 percent of respondents stated that maintaining their weight was a very important reason for doing sports.

6 years: Telephone and face-to-face interviews (n=152)

15 to 29 years: Telephone interviews and online survey (n=956).
