This statistic depicts the results of a survey conducted in November 2017 in Japan about the distribution of nutritional energy sources of the male population, broken down by age group. During the surveyed period, carbohydrates were the largest source of energy for the male population in Japan. Men in the age group 80 years and over drew about 62 percent of their energy from carbohydrates, while proteins made up 14.6 percent of their energy sources.
