The Brexit Factbook At 11pm on January 31, 2020 the United Kingdom left the European Union, ending a partnership that stretched back almost fifty years. Between the Brexit vote on June 23, 2016 and this date, more than 1,300 days passed, with the UK seeing three different Prime Ministers and two general elections. Although the initial chapter of Brexit has ended, the process is far from over.

After the UK left the EU, the country entered into a transitional period that is set to last until the end of 2020. During these eleven months, the UK and the EU must agree on a far-reaching trade deal, an ambitious timeline given the range of issues that must be addressed.
