In 2021, the revenue generated from charging stations for electric vehicles in the United States amounted to approximately 0.29 billion U.S. dollars. According to estimates of the Statista Mobility Market Outlook, revenue is expected to increase in the coming years reaching an estimated value of 1.54 billion U.S. dollars in 2026.

Emissions have a serious impact on the climate and environment. CO2 emissions contribute to the greenhouse effect, which propels climate change. Traffic is responsible for nearly one quarter of all CO2 emissions worldwide. Since EVs have the potential of being completely CO2-neutral, if the batteries and electricity to power the cars are produced using renewable energies, they may decelerate climate change.

The Electric Vehicles segment includes information about electric vehicles in countries where, according to our sources, a public electric vehicles charging infrastructure exists. Public, in this sense, means that the charging infrastructure is accessible via unrestricted access. A vehicle is said to be electric when it is self-contained with a battery or is classified as a plug-in hybrid. Currently, information is provided on a topline level, but in the future, separate information on battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) will be available.
