Monthly average household eating out expenses Japan 2013-2022
In 2022, Japanese households, including workers' and non-workers' households, spent on average about 9.3 thousand Japanese yen per month on eating out. This marked an increase in the annual average of monthly expenditures of households on eating out for the first year since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic that lead many restaurants to either close earlier in the day or even shut down business temporarily.
