Global bioenergy production 2009-2017

In 2017, around 495 terawatt hours of bioenergy was produced worldwide. Bioenergy is divided in traditional sources, which refers to the combustion of biomass in the forms of wood or animal waste, and modern sources, which includes the generation of liquid biofuels from sugar cane and other plants.
