In an opinion poll of 2018, television and radio were by far the most popular sources to acquire information about food safety in Japan, with 76.2 percent of Japanese men and 83 percent of Japanese women relying on these two media. While men referred to the newspaper more often than women did, women were much more likely to ask relatives and acquaintances or to look up relevant information in magazines and books.
