In 2018, it was estimated that nearly 25.4 percent of the population aged 16 or older that were born up until 1981 lagged behind in education and were therefore considered socially vulnerable in Mexico. Social vulnerability for lagging behind in education based on population shares has improved among adults in 2018, compared to the previous years, but it has worsened in the population aged 3 to 15 between 2016 and 2018.
